Reeza Hendricks walked back into South Africa playing 11 for the second T20I against India on November 10 (Sunday). Hendricks, a seasoned opener, replaced Patrick Kruger for the match at St George’s Park, Gqeberha as Proteas skipper Aiden Markram won the toss and once again decided to field first.
Conversely, India remained unchanged for the second game after winning the first match at Kingsmead in Durban. The Indian team leads the four-match series 1-0.
Markram said that he was not concerned about the result of the game despite losing the first match. On the other hand, Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian captain, was happy with how things have gone so far in the series and was pleased to be batting first again.
There are chances of rain, as the pitch was covered after the toss and remained under the cover at the time of writing this. The rain was also one of the primary reasons for Markram choosing to bowl first.
Here’s what the captains said after the toss.
Aiden Markarm: We are going to bowl first again. With rain around, that’s the obvious part. Hope the bowlers use the moisture. Kruger is out, Hendricks is in. We are not concerned about the outcome or result.
Suryakumar Yadav: We wanted to bat first and play the same brand of cricket, happy with the things in the last match. You always learn something or the other in every game. We want to continue the good habits. No changes, playing with the same XI.
