In a great phase in Ultimate, Carlos Prates is ready to have his first main fight in his first year in the organization. This Saturday (9), the Brazilian will face the experienced Neil Magny no main event do UFC Vegas 100which will be held in Las Vegas (USA).
It is worth mentioning that, initially, Carlos Prates would face Randy Brown in a three-round fight on the UFC 309 card. However, the São Paulo native's fight was moved up by a week, became a five-round fight and will have a new opponent, Neil Magny , currently 15th in the welterweight rankings.
Such last-minute changes affected, in a certain way, Carlos Prates' preparation. However, the Fighting Nerds athlete's physical trainer, Regis Araújodespite citing the difficulties throughout the process, stated that the Brazilian is ready to present another great performance in the UFC octagon.
“His preparation for this fight was a little troubled and a bit worrying, because we didn't have much time to organize the training division and distribute the training well. I prepared him for 25 minutes (fighting five rounds, the expected time for a main fight in the UFC), but I believe he doesn't need 25 minutes. He is prepared to end this fight in the second round, maximum third round. Another knockout for us!”, projected the physical trainer.
Carlos Prates is 31 years old and hasn't known what it's like to lose in MMA since 2019. “Nightmare”, after that, has had ten fights, winning nine of them by knockout. The Fighting Nerds athlete arrived in the UFC through the 2023 season of the “Contender Series” and, to date, has made three appearances for the organization, with three wins by knockout, the last of which over Li Jingliang at UFC 305, in August this year. .
