ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WITN) – Police say a child is in the hospital after a shooting in Elizabeth City on Saturday.
Elizabeth City police say at 4:09 a.m. they responded to 108 Queen Street for a report of possible shots fired and found it was struck by gunfire.
Officers say they located multiple shell casings nearby.
During the investigation, officers discovered that a boy had been struck in the leg by gunfire.
They say two additional suspects, one child and one adult were located and detained near the shooting’s location.
The injured child was transported to Sentara Hospital in Elizabeth City and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Investigating officers located and seized two 9mm handguns and one .38 special revolver.
Police say Quavion Martin, 20, of the 300 Block of Bank Street in Elizabeth City has been charged with felonious shooting into an occupied dwelling.
Martin was placed in Albemarle District Jail under no bond with a first appearance scheduled for Tuesday, November 12, 2024 in Pasquotank County District Court.
