HOURS WILL BE AFTER THIS WEEKEND. FOLLOWING THIS BLAST OF WINTRY WEATHER AROUND HERE, CHIEF METEOROLOGIST JOE DIAZ SAYS SOME BIG CHANGES ARE COMING. OUR WAY. YEAH, WE’RE NOT PROMISING A BIG HEATING WAVE ACROSS THE AREA, BUT YEAH, TEMPERATURES ARE GOING TO DEFINITELY START TO IMPROVE. HERE WE ARE ON YOUR FRIDAY NIGHT. IT’S 41 DEGREES. YOU FACTOR IN THAT LIGHT WIND. IT FEELS LIKE 36 DEGREES OUT THERE. SO YEAH IT’S COLD. NO GETTING AROUND THAT. NOW WE HAVE THAT COLD MORNING GIVING WAY TO A CHILLY AFTERNOON FOR TOMORROW. THEN ONCE WE GET PAST TOMORROW, WE’LL SEE A DAY BY DAY INCREASE IN TEMPERATURES BEFORE THE NEXT STORM SYSTEM. IT’S A DRY ONE. EL PASO TO THE NORTH AND LOWER TEMPERATURES A FEW DEGREES THEREAFTER. BUT DRY SKIES AND COMFORTABLY COOL OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS. THAT BLIZZARD WARNING CONTINUES OVER NORTHEASTERN PARTS OF NEW MEXICO UNTIL 11:00, BUT IT’S GOING TO BE JUST BLUSTERY CONDITIONS ALL THROUGH THE DAY TOMORROW WITH THOSE 15 TO 25 MILE PER HOUR WINDS, WITH ADDITIONAL AMOUNTS OF SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW FROM WHAT’S ALREADY ON THE GROUND UP THERE. NOW WE ALSO HAVE THAT FREEZE WARNING IN EFFECT FOR ROSWELL DOWN INTO CARLSBAD. SO THE GROWING SEASON IS ENDING. TAKE THE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS AND AS WE GO AHEAD AND LOOK, THE STORM SYSTEM IS EXITING. THERE WILL BE SOME WRAPAROUND COLD WINDS AND BLOWING SNOW ALONG WITH IT DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. AND THEN IT KICKS OUT OF THE REGION. IT WILL BE CHILLY TO THE NORTH, CERTAINLY A LITTLE BIT MILDER SOUTHERN PARTS OF NEW MEXICO. AND THEN WE GO INTO SUNDAY AND MILDER WEATHER STATEWIDE. AND THAT’S KIND OF A DAY BY DAY WARMING TREND THAT WILL BE WORKING ON NOW TOMORROW FOR YOUR SATURDAY. THERE COULD BE SOME PATCHY FREEZING FOG AROUND TEMPERATURE 24 DEGREES. SO BUNDLE UP AND BE CAREFUL OUT THERE. IF YOU HIT SOME OF THAT FREEZING FOG, IT MAKES THE ROADS SLICK. AND THEN FINALLY WE’RE GOING TO GET INTO THE UPPER 40S. NOW AS WE GO AHEAD AND CHECK OUT CONDITIONS IN THE MORNING, 7:00 6:00 IN THE MORNING FOR YOUR SATURDAY. THESE ARE THE TEMPERATURES WITH THAT FREEZE IN PLACE OVER SOUTHEASTERN PARTS OF THE STATE. NOTICE IT WILL BE CHILLY IN THE AFTERNOON. WE ADVANCE IT TO ANOTHER COLD MORNING. GOING ON INTO SUNDAY WITH 25 TO 38 FROM DURANGO ON INTO CARLSBAD. BUT YEAH, DAYTIME HIGHS WILL START TO EDGE UPWARD JUST A LITTLE BIT. AND AS WE GO AHEAD AND CHECK OUT THE FOUR CORNERS REGION FORECAST, WE HAVE THOSE COLD MORNINGS. BUT DAYTIME HIGHS WARMING INTO THE 40S. LESS WIND ACROSS THIS AREA THAN IN RECENT DAYS. AND THEN WE’LL GET INTO THE 50S BEFORE TEMPERATURES LOWER ONLY INCREASE AGAIN LATER IN THE SEVEN DAY FORECAST. SOUTHWEST. DEFINITELY ON THE COOL SIDE, NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT. THOSE COLD MORNINGS WITH THE COMFORTABLY COOL AFTERNOONS IF YOU DRESS APPROPRIATELY AND THEN CHECK IT OUT BY MONDAY, 70 DEGREES OVER IN SILVER CITY. SO IT’S GOING TO BE A BIG TREAT OVER THERE. WE’LL SEE 49 DEGREES TOMORROW OVER IN RUIDOSO SOUTHEAST WARMING INTO THE 60S ACROSS THE REGION THERE WE’LL GET TO 70 DEGREES IN ROSWELL. BUT NOTICE ROSWELL, CARLSBAD DROPPING TO THAT FREEZE FOR TONIGHT. THE FIRST TIME OF THE SEASON. IT WILL BE BLUSTERY CONDITIONS WITH SOME BRISK WESTERLY WINDS FOR THE EAST MOUNTAINS ON INTO NORTHEASTERN PARTS OF THE STATE. NOW SAYS A HIGH OF 41 DEGREES OVER IN LAS VEGAS. BUT THE WIND CHILLS WILL BE IN THE TEENS AND 20S THROUGHOUT THE DAY, THOUGH THOSE WEST WINDS WILL BE KICKING UP THE TEMPERATURES AND EVENTUALLY GETTING UP TO AROUND 51 DEGREES LATER NEXT WEEK. 39 FOR A HIGH OVER IN TAOS, WE’RE LOOKING FOR 38 IN THE SANTA FE AREA, SO THIS WILL SLOWLY MELT THE SNOW IN THE DAYS AHEAD ACROSS THE REGION AS WE GET THAT WARMING TREND KICKING IN AND THE METRO AREA WILL HAVE THAT COLD START, PATCHY FREEZING FOG AROUND WITH TEMPERATURES STILL ON THE CHILLY SIDE, BUT I THINK YOU’RE GOING TO LIKE IT BETTER THAN THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS. 49 FOR TOMORROW, 55 ON SUNDAY. VETERANS DAY, 57 DEGREES AND THEN SOME WESTERLY BREEZES WILL KICK US UP TO 60 BEFORE WE DROP INTO THE MID TO UPPER 50S WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY AND BACK AROUND 61 DEGREES AS WE GET INTO FRIDAY. SO YEAH, IF YOU LIKE A MODERATION TEMPERATURE TREND, THIS IS A GOOD ONE. NORMAL HIGH FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. TOMORROW. RIGHT DIRECTION. OKAY. WE’LL TAKE THAT. WELCOME TO FALL. REMEMBER, WE THOUGHT IT DIDN’T COME, BUT NOW IT’S COMING. WE MADE IT THIS WEEK
