Throughout the campaign, City showed a consistent performance, with players such as Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne being instrumental in their success. Other teams such as Arsenal and Manchester United also battled at the top of the table, but failed to unseat the champions.
Competition was also intense for the European competition places and the relegation zone, demonstrating the equality and competitiveness characteristic of the English league. With outstanding performances and a high level of play, the Premier League 2023-2024 consolidated its reputation as one of the most watched and followed leagues in the world.
Many coaches and players consider that winning the Premier League is more difficult than other championships due to the physical demands, the number of matches and the high level of its teams. Revenues from television rights are very high in the Premier League, allowing clubs to invest more in transfers and salaries, which reinforces their competitiveness both domestically and in Europe.
The Premiership is a highly coveted title in England, and winning this championship is a great source of pride for local fans, sometimes surpassing the relevance of the Champions League for English fans themselves.
The stadium has a long and illustrious history in which it stands out as one of the first in the country to install artificial lighting, as well as some of the first to host European Cup matches in the 1950s. Molineux is a 32,050-seat stadium, but consistently had higher attendances when standing room was available. The record attendance is 61,315.
At the time of its multi-million dollar redevelopment in the early 1990s, Molineux was one of the biggest and best stadiums in England, since then it has been overtaken by the construction or redevelopment of other stadiums. The stadium has hosted matches for the England national team and, more recently, the England Under-21 team, as well as the first UEFA Cup final in 1972. Plans announced in 2010 call for a £40 million redevelopment to rebuild and join three tiers of the stadium to increase its capacity to 38,000 seats. The first part of this project, the Stan Cullis Stand, was completed in 2012. The next two stages were postponed in order to allocate funds to the club’s youth academies. There are tentative plans for a long-term redevelopment that could result in a 50,000-seat capacity.
