Ralf Schumacher’s ex-wife turns to therapy after bitter row with former F1 star: ‘Shook me deeply’

Ralf Schumacher’s ex-wife, Cora Schumacher, has revealed she’s sought therapy in the wake of her bitter row with the former star.

Ralf announced earlier this year he was in a relationship with a man named Etienne, despite previously being married to Cora for 13 years.

Cora claims she only found out about her ex-husband’s new relationship on social media.

This is something Ralf has disputed, with the German leaking text messages between the pair that appeared to show her congratulating him on his new romance with Etienne.

Cora has now revealed on Instagram that she’s ‘sought therapeutic help’ in the wake of the argument.

She says she has suffered with panic attacks and that the rows have ‘opened up many old wounds’, too.

“In order to be able to process the events of the last few years, I proactively sought therapeutic help,” she said.

“The experiences during the separation and the subsequent divorce in 2014 shook me deeply and I still have to process these events to this day.”

Ralf and Cora announced their split in 2014. The pair have a son named Daniel together.

Daniel has been supportive of his father’s relationship with Etienne in the time since. Back in August, he took to social media to say that Cora was looking at the situation ‘differently’.

He wrote: “Normally I wouldn’t want to talk about family matters in public because these topics have no business being talked about online.

“Unfortunately my mother seems to be looking at this differently.

“It is now time to put an end to it: I just want to live my life in peace, [and] reach my goals without being asked about all the things my mother accuses me and my dad of.”

Cora previously said she ‘felt used’ and had ‘wasted her best years’ following Ralf’s announcement.

“I wish Ralf had included me or at least let me be part of his decision. It would have been a sign of respect,” she told Der Spiegel.

“During his career in F1, there were many rumours in the paddock.

Ralf Schumacher announced he was gay and in a relationship with a man called Etienne back in JulyINSTAGRAM

“I asked him to clarify if what was being said was true, but he always denied it, telling me that I was imagining everything and that maybe I needed psychological help.

“When he announced it, it was like a stab in the heart.

“Coming out always affects those around you, including the ex-wife with whom you had a child. Today I feel used during the marriage. I feel like I’ve wasted my best years.

“I ask myself many questions. Was he honest with me? And there’s something even more important that’s on my mind: did he love me?

“I trusted him blindly and that’s why his word was law for me.”
