A situation which began to improve recently with the gradual resumption of official functions of the king and the princess, who announced during the summer that she had finished her chemotherapy treatment. But two months before the end of the year, the 42-year-old prince is already drawing an obvious conclusion: 2024 has been “brutal” for him and his family.

“Stay the course”

Prince William returned from an official stay in South Africa where he attended the Earthshot Prize Awards, a ceremony he himself launched in 2020 with naturalist David Attenborough. This recent edition awarded prizes of £1 million to five eco-friendly projects.

Asked about his role as Prince of Wales, the son of Charles III found it difficult to admit straight away whether he liked him or not. “It’s a delicate question. Do I like having more responsibilities? No,” he replied.

In return, his position allows him to support the causes in which he believes. “Do I like the freedom of being able to create something like Earthshot? So, yes. And that’s the future for me,” he said. “With this role and my field, it is very important that I do something good, that I help people in their lives and that I do something that is really meaningful. »
