“If I'm the problem, I have to leave, I don't care about the money”

Adrien Rabiot explained that the instructions were not respected. How do you explain it?

I take responsibility not only for this defeat and overall for the performance of the home team. I am not succeeding in transferring the good performances away or making the team play with the right values, the right intensity at home. We are having difficulties at home, that much is clear. I don't know if it's a lack of courage or personality. I'm trying to find solutions. But it's obvious that there is a big difference. I came here to play at the Vélodrome, to give my all because I wanted to live this strong experience. I spoke about it with Medhi Benatia and Pablo Longoria. I come from the streets, I tell it like it is.

If the problem is me, I'm ready to leave, I'm handing in my contract. I'm leaving without money, I don't care, it's not my problem. I don't want to talk nonsense. I'm here to tell the truth, that's all I know how to do. We can't do it, I'm not going to escape, we have to face reality. This is what we will try to do and what I will do.

Should we already be worried about a place at the top of the table at the end of the season?

I don't live to be second, I don't want to talk about it, I'm not interested. I have to transfer my passion and my vision of football to the players, to the staff, to the people here. Against PSG, we played with 10. But when we were 11 against 11 for twenty minutes, what I saw didn't necessarily please me. We had performances at home that weren't very good, these things keep repeating themselves. We had very high caliber performances away from home. But we can't talk about the 2e place. Positioning and defeat don't interest me.

I don't necessarily care about winning either. I have to be able to give something, to transmit, I live for things that transcend football. Again, if I'm the problem I need to leave, I don't care about the money. What matters is the gratification of the work and what I have done. I have nothing bad to say about my players who are all good people.

What did Benatia and Longoria say to you?

I really feel responsible for what is happening right now. It is not my intention to unload on others. What I said to the managers, I said to the players before, to whom I always speak first. The leaders were present. Then I come to you and I say the exact same things. I said what I had to say. I have a face, the players know it, I'm not a fake person.

What needs to change to break the negative spiral at the Vélodrome?

I don't think the solution is to change players who have courage and personality, even if we can always improve. You need passion, understanding how lucky you are to play in this stadium and for this club. If the players are able to understand this, it is obvious that we will do better. They must understand what it means to play for OM. You need that extra thing. You cannot be a simple employee of the club, you must have the right mindset, you must understand the city, the history of the club.

We cannot ask questions or have hesitations. We must be suicide bombers on the ground. I'm going crazy not understanding why we can't do at home what we can achieve outside. Maybe it's me. We have to find solutions, understand basic things. The solution is not to change the players. Because some players have this state of mind in addition.
