Around her, in addition to her assistant María Dolores Ocaña Madrid, six people are seated who listen attentively to her. In the background, large bay windows reveal the lushness of the palace gardens.
Why did we choose this photo?
That day, the wife of the Spanish sovereign kept her only engagement of the week. There is no question for the Queen of Spain of ensuring festive or fun meetings, after having gone last Sunday with her royal husband to Paiporta, one of the towns most affected by the terrible floods which had ravaged the south -is of the country and caused, according to the current provisional report, 219 dead and 93 missing, mainly in the Valencia region.
It was a very serious meeting that she had scheduled four days after this royal visit, during which they were able to feel the distress of the victims, but also their anger. They, who are used to meeting populations affected by attacks or natural disasters, were, for the first time, greeted with cries of “Assassins!” Assassins! » and by throwing mud.
A very serious meeting to talk about health and disability in the disaster region
If the monarch and his wife had to cancel their second planned trip to Chiva, this does not mean that they would not continue to worry about this tragedy. The proof this Thursday.
Because the men and women who surround Queen Letizia are none other than the general coordinator of the Spanish Red Cross, the general director of the Scientific Foundation of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), that of the Spanish Federation of Diseases rare (FEDER) and the presidents of the General Council of the National Organization of the Spanish Blind (ONCE), the Spanish Confederation of Mental Health and the Spanish Committee of Representatives of Persons with Disabilities (CERMI).
Letizia very focused took notes
As indicated by the Palace, each of the leaders of these national social entities dedicated to health and disability were able to explain how they worked, in their respective fields, to help people who have seen their lives and their environment totally disrupted. by this meteorological phenomenon of the “cold drop”, today called DANA (the acronym for Depresion Aislada en Niveles Alto, isolated high-level depression in French).
Another photo shows Queen Letizia, very focused, taking notes. Thanking them for what has already been accomplished, she asked them to continue their constant attention beyond these first days, due to the importance of the damage which will require a long time before a return to normal.
Certainly, even if she is not on the ground alongside them, the Queen of Spain does not intend to abandon the inhabitants of the Valencia region, after this real tragedy
