Belgrade (Serbia) – The absence of Serbian star Novak Djokovic from this year’s ATP Finals has sparked speculation regarding his future on the circuit, a matter he took the time to clarify in a brief interview with Sport Klub, in which he assured that he remains highly motivated. The former world number one is already focusing on preseason training and is keen to give it his all in 2025.
“Tennis is still my goal; I am ready to put in the effort during preseason. I just needed to recharge my batteries and take a break after a tiring year. I’ve mentioned it a million times: I would like to play in the Davis Cup as well. Let’s see what happens,” commented the Serbian.
Since his elimination at the US Open, Djokovic has participated in only two events, one of which was the Davis Cup, where he could not help Serbia progress beyond the group stage. He also competed in the Shanghai Masters 1000 but subsequently missed the Paris Masters 1000 and the ATP Finals, which kicks off next weekend.

His absence from the tournament featuring the season’s top players fits into Djokovic’s strategy as he looks toward the next year, intending to start early and compete even before making his appearance in Melbourne. “I will play in the first week of the season, but I don’t know where yet. After that, of course, it’s the Australian Open,” the Belgrade-born athlete revealed.
