Beyoncé has surpassed her husband Jay-Z to hold the record for the most Grammy nominations in history, with a total of 99. However, this isn‘t the only notable highlight from Friday’s nominee announcements.
The Recording Academy has rolled out the nominations for the 2025 Grammy Awards, and native Houstonian Beyoncé leads the pack with 11. Her 2024 album — “Cowboy Carter” — is up for “Album of the Year” and “Best Country Album” — though the native Texan formerly said her eighth studio album wasn’t a country album, but rather, a “Beyoncé album.”
Of all the 2025 Grammy categories, none seem quite as stacked as “Album of the Year.” Beyoncé‘s “Cowboy Carter” is up against Taylor Swift‘s “The Tortured Poets Department,” Chappell Roan‘s “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess,” and Charli XCX’s “Brat,” among others.
Among Beyoncé‘s Grammy nominations is fellow Texas music artist Post Malone. The pair collaborated on the “Cowboy Carter” song, “Levii’s Jeans,” which also made its way into a commercial for Levi’s starring Queen B.
“Levii’s Jeans“ was nominated for ”Best Pop Duo/Group Performance,” which happens to be another stacked category that includes nominations for “us” by Gracie Abrams featuring Taylor Swift, “Guess” by Charli XCX featuring Billie Eilish, and “the boy is mine” by Ariana Grande, Brandy and Monica, among others.
Bey‘s song, “Bodyguard,” which is also on “Cowboy Carter,” earned a Grammy nomination for “Best Pop Solo Performance.” To no surprise, Beyoncé has some stiff competition in this category, as well. TikTok‘s favorite song off Charli XCX’s “Brat” — “Apple” — is also nominated, as is “Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter, “Good Luck, Babe!” by Chappell Roan and “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish.
