A night of sporting fervor which turned into brutality. Attacks were committed during the night from Thursday to Friday in Amsterdam on the sidelines of a Europa League match between Ajax and Maccabi Tel-Aviv. Israel denounced “appalling” violence and a “premeditated anti-Semitic attack” against its supporters, sending relief planes to repatriate its nationals as quickly as possible.
According to an initial assessment, at least five people were hospitalized and around sixty people arrested. The Netherlands also denounced “unacceptable anti-Semitic attacks against Israelis” on Friday morning. On social networks, videos of attacks in the center of Amsterdam have circulated, sometimes showing men being beaten to the ground. Some images also appear to show individuals chasing other people.
