The Moroccan population has increased by nearly 3 million people in ten years, according to the preliminary results of the General Population and Housing Census (RGPH) 2024. These figures, presented in the presentation note of the draft decree for the validation of the results of the RGPH, submitted by the Ministry of the Interior, will be brought to the government for approval this Thursday, November 7.
As of September 1, 2024, Morocco had 36,828,330 inhabitants, an increase of 2,980,088 inhabitants (+8.80%) compared to the year 2014, according to the presentation note of draft decree No. 2-24 -1009 consulted by Hespress fr. This draft decree must be adopted by the Government Council this Thursday, November 7.
The number of households also experienced a strong increase, reaching 9,275,038, an increase of 1,961,232 households (+26.82%) compared to 2014.
Increase in the number of foreigners
The census also recorded 148,152 foreigners residing in Morocco, an increase of 61,946 foreigners (+71.86%) compared to 2014 figures.
Validation of results
The validation of the results of the RGPH 2024, as indicated in the presentation note, will be followed by the publication of detailed data in the Bulletin Office by the High Commission for Planning (HCP), after the adoption of the decree by the government.
