After many hours, the verdict was finally delivered. Bruno Pelat was sentenced to one year's imprisonment, including six months' suspended sentence and six months' probation. Furthermore, Bruno Pelat benefited from a three-month probationary suspension in the context of another conviction for acts of violence which was revoked. Bruno Pelat had already been sentenced in June 2022 for violence and death threats against his father, then for violence against another partner in April 2023.

Godson of Liliane Bettencourt, he had been her tutor in legal affairs. At the head of a fortune estimated at 1.6 billion euros, the latter is, according to a ranking published last July by the magazine Challengein 78th place in the 500 professional fortunes of France. Bruno Pelat is also the grandson of the politician Roger-Patrice Pelat, a close friend of François Mitterrand. It appears he works in the family business.
