Noah Lyles and iShowSpeed ended up being in the right place at the right time.
During a stream on Wednesday, Speed was talking with MrBeast while he was hanging out with Lyles in Orlando. Speed demanded a race with Lyles, who is considered the fastest man on Earth after he narrowly defeated Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson by .005 seconds in the 100-meter dash at the 2024 Olympics.
Since he was in Miami at the time, Speed was debating whether or not he wanted to take a spur of the moment trip to Orlando to race Lyles. MrBeast decided to sweeten the pot a little bit by providing a track and putting up $100,000 that Lyles would be victorious.
Speed showed up. After a strong start by the famous streamer, Lyles kicked it into another gear to secure the win. Speed also claimed the close race ended in a tie.
Before the competition, Lyles warned Speed to finish the race no matter what and hinted that he might get discouraged as he lost to him.
Even though Speed did not prove everyone wrong and live up to his promise of defeating Lyles because “my name is Speed for a reason,” it was still an impressive effort.
