Stanisic comeback probably not until 2025 – Pavlovic in 2024?

After the setback for Hiroki Ito, who had to undergo another operation after breaking his metatarsal, there is further news from FC Bayern’s injury list.

Still only spectators: Bayern’s Josip Stanisic.

For the first time since his operation for a broken collarbone, Aleksandar Pavlovic went to the lawn on Säbener Straße at the beginning of the week and the national player did his first laps. Initially, it had to be assumed that the 20-year-old would no longer play in 2024 after the injury he suffered in the game against VfB Stuttgart (4-0).

Now, according to kicker information, there is a small hope that things could happen a little quicker than expected for the midfielder and that he can celebrate his comeback before Christmas. The healing process is therefore optimal.

Until his injury, last season’s newcomer was considered a set by coach Vincent Kompany, and he usually formed the double six together with Joshua Kimmich – to the credit of new signing Joao Palhinha, who only gets a regular start due to his colleague’s bad luck. He should also be in the starting line-up on Wednesday evening against Benfica Lisbon.

Return to Liverpool: Was Xabi Alonso staying at Bayer right?

Xabi Alonso faces his past with Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday. The Spaniard once won the Champions League with Liverpool FC. At the Reds he was repeatedly traded as Klopp’s successor.

No risk with Stanisic

Things are a little different for Josip Stanisic, even though his recovery process from a torn lateral ligament in his right knee is going very well. The Croatian international suffered the injury during training in the week before the start of the Bundesliga. He also underwent surgery and is currently working his way up to running training.

Internally there was hope that the right and central defender could return to the team at the beginning of December. However, the time after the winter break is more realistic. At the end of November/beginning of December, a serious prognosis can be made as to whether Stanisic coach Kompany will still be available in December.

As much as Kompany is spoiled for choice when it comes to his personnel on the offensive, there can be little in the way of further failures on the defensive. Although Sacha Boey is returning soon, Stanisic would be the more stable right-back defensively. Also as the fine footballer Raphael Guerreiro, who turned out to be the wrong choice at right back against a top team like FC Barcelona.

Of course, Joshua Kimmich could help out as a full-back, but he is needed in midfield, see Pavlovic’s loss. So the duo’s injuries are connected in a certain way. Before Christmas, FC Bayern will play ten more competitive games: six in the Bundesliga, the DFB Cup clash against Leverkusen and three games in the Champions League.
