The government is preparing to approve a draft decree submitted by Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit, announcing the general results of the September 2024 census. According to the draft decree, the legal population in the Kingdom will reach, on September 1st of the current year 2024, a total of 36 million 828 thousand and 330 people, and thus it has become static. Since the 2014 General Population and Housing Census, the Kingdom has increased by 2 million 980 thousand and 88 people, i.e. an increase estimated at plus 8.80 percent.
As for the total number of families that resulted from the census, it was determined at 9 million 275 thousand and 38 families. This number, in turn, recorded a significant increase of 2,961,232 families, or a rate equivalent to 26.82, compared to the number of families that were counted in 2014.
Regarding the number of foreigners residing in the Kingdom, their total number is determined at 148,152 people, recording an increase of 61,946 people, or an estimated rate of 71.86%, compared to the number of foreigners specified according to the 2014 census.
It is noteworthy that the legal population of the Kingdom reached, on September 1, 2014, approximately 33 million and 848 thousand and 242 people, including 86 thousand and 206 foreigners, while the number of families reached 7 million and 313 thousand and 806 families.
According to the memorandum submitting the decree, this draft decree falls within the framework of completing the final stage completed by the entitlement to complete the population and housing census in the Kingdom for the year 2024, which is to inventory and determine the final results of the census conducted last month of September.
