In the new episode of the ZDF true crime pioneer “Case number a horror find in Hanover and the attempted murder of an FDP politician
The criminal police always rely on random observations and corresponding tips in order to find a solution to so-called “cold cases”, i.e. cases that have almost been shelved. This time the officers hope that they can solve a murder that happened 30 years ago. It’s about a woman whose human remains were found in 2023.
Two students discover their skeletal corpse in a deep hole in the ground on a Bundeswehr site in Hanover. She was killed at least two years earlier. According to forensic investigations, the woman was between 30 and 55 years old and had reddish brown hair. She also wore a turquoise shirt that read “Little Italy – New York City.” Many of her teeth were rotten or chipped and had been cosmetically restored; especially in the area of the incisors. Identification has not yet been made. The whole case is still a mystery: Why is there no missing person report about the woman?

Shot in his sleep
In March 2023, an unknown perpetrator shot the farmer and FDP politician Georg Gallus through a window at night as he slept in his apartment on a remote farm in Hattenhofen (Bavaria). The politician is hit by four bullets and has to undergo emergency surgery; but he survives. In the hospital, Gallus is then guarded by the police out of fear that the perpetrator might appear again. Due to the burst cartridge cases, investigators suspect that the murder weapon was converted.
Deadly stings
On a January night in 1992, a taxi driver discovered 28-year-old Andrea Weltzer on the street in Cologne; she is unconscious and seriously injured. In the hospital they fight for her life, but the young woman dies from her severe stab wounds. The investigators discover male traces of DANN, but many questions remain unanswered. It is still not clear to this day why the young woman was in Lindenthal even though she lived in the Ehrenfeld district. The friends and acquaintances of the dead also refused to speak to the police at the time.
Robber in the house
In 2023, two men gained access to the house of an 80-year-old senior citizen near Trier. When she hears noises at night and wants to see what’s going on in her house, the perpetrators suddenly open the door and tie the elderly woman up. They then go looking for valuables and steal, among other things, jewelry, four cell phones, a safe and an older digital camera. The 80-year-old was finally able to free herself and alerted the police.
Murder in the garden
When a 75-year-old woman doesn’t return home after gardening, her family members worry and search for her. They find the woman dead on their property near Aalen. The “Soko Garten”, which consists of around 30 investigators, now wants to find out under what circumstances the 75-year-old had to die. The police are looking for a man between 17 and 25 years old who was near the property at the time of the crime.
Double hit-and-run (Obertrum am See, Austria)
On the night of June 17, 2023, 19-year-old Jeanette wants to walk home after a party. On the way she was hit by a car at around 12:30 a.m. and fell to the ground. The driver of the car just keeps driving, leaving Jeanette lying on the road. Shortly afterwards, a witness sees the young woman and wants to rush to her aid; But then Jeanette is hit by another car and continues driving. The first driver later reports to the police, but investigators are still looking for the second driver.
