Several thousand students and Democratic supporters gathered on this campus where the Democratic candidate, who studied there, finally gave up speaking on Tuesday evening.

Kamala Harris supporters arrived at Howard University in Washington, where her team held her election night, full of hope, enthusiasm and excitement. At the start of the evening, thousands of mainly African-American students, as well as Democratic activists and sympathizers, danced on the vast square waving American flags while giant screens broadcast projections from the CNN channel. These certainly credited Donald Trump with a slight lead in Virginia, a state where Joe Biden had easily won in 2020. But Kayla Mambe and Eleisha Poole, two first-year students, still refused to worry. “We believe in Kamala”they laughed, brandishing a pink banner reading: “A woman's place is White House ».
