Iris Mittenaere affair: her ex-companion Bruno Pelat faces justice for domestic violence this Wednesday

Iris Mittenaere, Miss and Miss Universe 2016, will be present this Wednesday, November 6 at the criminal court for the trial of her ex-companion Bruno Pelat, accused of domestic violence.

Iris Mittenaere reveals the scandal

The scandal broke out on September 24 during the Etam Live Show in Paris. Diego El Glaoui's ex appears there with two splints on his left hand, trying to hide his injury behind his bag. The next day, the former Miss France filed a complaint against her companion for acts of domestic violence.

According to the Paris prosecutor's office, the events took place at the defendant's home on the night of September 23 to 24. The victim first makes a report via the digital victim support platform before filing an official complaint.

A legal past that worries Iris Mittenaere's ex

The case takes a more serious turn when Bruno Pelat's legal past is revealed. The son of the real estate magnate has already been the subject of two convictions: in June 2022 for “violence and death threats against his father”, then in April 2023 for “violence against another partner”.

During the September hearing, the prosecutor was concerned about a “resort to threats and violence which seems to be a habitual recourse in the context of the relationships he maintains with those around him”. For his part, the defendant mentions a “impulsivity problem” and confides “fear abandonment“, mentioning: “I don’t know my mother.”

Serious charges and protective measures for Iris Mittenaere

The facts alleged against Bruno Pelat are particularly worrying. He is accused of having beaten Iris Mittenaere, of having hit her head against a wall and of having threatened to “to blow up“her contracts, and this since June 2024. Me Emilie Bruézière, the Miss's lawyer, indicated in September that her client “was not psychologically capable of coming to the hearing” and that she estimated “not being able to tell everything at the police station“. Pending trial, the accused was placed under judicial supervision with a formal ban on contacting the victim. He faces up to three years of imprisonment and a fine of 45,000 euros.
