US presidential election
At 7:57 a.m. French time this Wednesday, the very conservative Fox News channel announced the victory of Donald Trump. Less than 40 minutes later, in Palm Beach, Florida, without even waiting for the official proclamation of the results, the serene billionaire presented himself as the winner in front of his cheering supporters: “We overcame obstacles that no one thought possible. And it's now clear that we achieved the most incredible political thing. Look what happened, it's crazy!“
His victory took shape more quickly than expected, its scale was unexpected. The first indication of this success was that at 5:20 a.m. French time, the first of the key states, North Carolina, fell into the Republican hands. At 6:58 a.m., Donald Trump wins Georgia, his supporters begin to exult. “Kamala Harris is a liar, she is deceitful. But Trump tells the truth, he took a bullet for us, he's a good American“, reacts a voter in the TF1 1 p.m. video to be found at the top of this article. “Just wondering if I can book a hotel in DC for Inauguration Day, buddy. Amen, man“, says another. But at that moment, we still have to wait for the results of Pennsylvania, the most decisive of the key states, to capsize definitively.

In stark contrast, in the Democratic camp, the disappointment is colossal. Kamala Harris will not speak immediately, announces one of her campaign managers: “So you will not hear from the Vice President this evening. But you will hear it tomorrow.” In Washington, the Democratic candidate's support is quickly evaporating, as our correspondent Axel Monnier testifies: “Everyone understood, the place was deserted in a few seconds and only a few flags remained, symbols of this election evening, because from now on, this desk, they clearly understood that it would only be used by the candidate to recognize her defeat .”
And for good reason, at 11:33 a.m., the trend is confirmed. The man who was the 45th President of the United States officially becomes the 47th tenant of the White House. Proof of this total victory, the new president will be able to rely on the Senate, which the Republicans took back last night from the Democrats.
