ANALYSE – The results of the American election which are trickling in have confirmed the ultra-close vote between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris that the polls predicted.

The polls were right. The close competition between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris that opinion polls had been predicting for more than two months was confirmed with the first results of the presidential election.
The Republican candidate's lead in recent weeks has also been confirmed with the first results. In addition to solidly Republican states in the South and West, Trump notably won the more divided states of Georgia and North Carolina. Four years ago, Biden only narrowly snatched Georgia, and North Carolina was won by Trump. But the counts which continued into the night also confirmed that the six other pivotal states remained in play, with the crucial one of Pennsylvania, as well as Arizona and Nevada.
