Zeno Debast talks about a “fantastic night” for Sporting against City and praises the coach
Debast, Sporting player, speaking to journalists in the mixed area of the Alvalade stadium, after the defeat against Man. City (4-1), in a game valid for the fourth round of the Champions League:
«It was a fantastic night for Sporting and for the fans. We felt a great atmosphere throughout the stadium from the first to the last minute and we are very happy with the victory.
Ruben is a fantastic coach. I only worked with him for three months and I would like him to stay, but I'm happy, because he deserves it. It's like when a player plays well and then gets transferred, so he deserves it and we're happy for him.
Nobody was prepared to lose Ruben Amorim, but it's part of life. We have to prove to Ruben and the club that we can move forward without him.
It wasn't an easy game, but we prepared well for the game. We felt the energy of the crowd in the second half. They helped us and we are very happy with this result. On Sunday, we will have an important game again, before the international break, so today we will celebrate and tomorrow (Wednesday) we will start preparing for the game against Sp. Braga.”
