Queen Camilla is on forced rest. Barely back from Australia and the Samoa Islands, the wife of King Charles III was forced to cancel her official engagements planned for this week due to a health problem. “The Queen is currently suffering from a lung infection for which her doctors have advised her to take a short period of rest,” Buckingham Palace said on November 5. Aged 77, the Queen is currently resting at her home.
During this period, it is the Duchess of Gloucester who will represent Camilla, notably this Thursday, November 7 at Westminster Abbey on the occasion of celebrations in memory of the soldiers who died during the First World War. The Queen will also not be able to attend a reception organized the same evening at Buckingham in honor of Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
When will Camilla be back on the official scene? Mystery for now. The palace, however, wants to be reassuring by assuring that the queen consort hopes to be recovered this Sunday, December 10 in order to attend the Remembrance Sunday ceremony.
