Those responsible for the elections start the process of checking and confirming the counted votes. The period within which this must be done varies.
– 11 november
On that day, the preparations for the transition begin. If it is not yet certain who can claim victory, both campaign teams will be informed.
– 26 november
An exceptional date: Trump would then be sentenced in the case surrounding the hush money he paid a porn actress. He faces four years. He cannot pardon himself, if he were elected. After all, this is a complaint from a state. (Read more below the photo)
– 11 december
The governor officially awards the electoral votes to the candidate who wins in the state.
– 17 december
A date considered potentially very dangerous for intimidation and threats. The electors physically come together in each state to vote. The certificates are then forwarded to Washington.
– 25 december
Deadline. The certificates must arrive in Washington no later than Christmas Day. If that does not happen, the President of the Senate can intervene and request it.
– January 3
First session of the new House of Representatives and Senate.
– January 6
The Senate and House come together to count the votes under a watchful eye. Vice President Harris chairs that session in which the winner is – finally – officially declared.
– January 20
Inauguration and start of the four-year term of office.
