Impressed by the unique Anfield atmosphere, Bayer Leverkusen suffered their first defeat of this Champions League season when Xabi Alonso returned to Liverpool. After defensive misfires in the second half, the German champions lost 4-0 (0-0) in front of a loud crowd at Alonso's former club. Real loses against Milan, Dortmund with a mini win against Sturm Graz
Real Madrid suffered a 3-1 defeat at home against AC Milan. Thiaw gave the Italians the lead in the 12th minute. Vinicius Junior was able to equalize for the Royals in the 23rd minute with a penalty that he took himself. In the 39th minute, long-time Real player Morata scored for Milan to make it 2-1 and in the 73rd minute Reijnders completed Real's disgrace with a 3-1 win. Joker Donyell Malen secured a mandatory win against Sturm Graz for Borussia Dortmund's core squad. With his late winning goal (85th minute), the substitute Dutchman made it 1-0 (0-0) for the overwhelmingly dominant Bundesliga team against the Austrian double winners. Goalkeeper Gregor Kobel was missing again from Dortmund due to an injury.
Sporting beats Man City, Bologna loses to Monaco
Ruben Amorim won his last game with Sporting Lisbon. The Portuguese coach, who will be Manchester United's coach from November 11th, celebrated a 4-1 win with his team against Manchester City. Foden gave Man City, where Manuel Akanji played through, the lead after just four minutes. Gyökeres equalized in the 39th minute.
Things got tough for Pep Guardiola's team after the break. Araujo scored in the 46th minute to make it 2-1 and in the 49th and 81st minutes Gyökeres scored his second and third goals via a foul penalty. In the 69th minute, Haaland was also able to take a penalty. However, the Norwegian shot the ball onto the crossbar.
The game between Bologna and Monaco ended 0-1. With Embolo for the guests and Freuler and Ndoye for Bologna, three Swiss national players were on the pitch from the start and everyone played hard. Kehrer scored the only goal of the game in the 87th minute.
