Five days after his release, Bougane Guèye Dani, leader of the Geum sa bopp movement, spoke this Monday, November 4, 2024 during a press conference to look back on his prison experience at the Prison and Correction House (MAC ) of Tambacounda, where he was detained for more than ten days.
Arrested by the gendarmerie for refusing to comply, rumors circulated on social networks concerning a supposed hunger strike that he started during his detention. Bougane Guèye Dani categorically denied these allegations. “From October 19 to 30, (Editor’s note: 11 days) dates of my arrest and my release, I did not consume prison food due to lack of confidence, but I never went on strike. hunger. I made do with water and apples,” he explained.

After his sentence to one month in prison on October 30 for refusing to comply, Bougane Guèye Dani was released. He quickly joined the electoral campaign alongside the Samm sa kaddu coalition led by Barthelemy Dias, with a view to the legislative elections scheduled for November 17.
