This Monday evening, on the occasion of the 71st Midi Olympique Oscars ceremony in Paris, the legendary hinges of French and international rugby will be in the spotlight. For the occasion, many exceptional scrum-halves or fly-halfs made the trip, like Gregan, Larkham, Carter, Dominguez, Grant Fox Pierre Berbizier, Yachvili and Michalak. Number 10 of the French XV during the legendary semi-final won against the All Blacks in 1999, and associated that day with Glathié who will also be present, Christophe Lamaison says he is inevitably moved.
“It’s already an honor to be here, I can’t say otherwiseexplains the person concerned. I don't know who does the voting but, in any case, I thank them (smile). When we see the names present for this ceremony… It sets the bar very high. We finally say to ourselves that we are part of something that I didn't necessarily expect at the time when I was still athletic. Twenty-five years later, I find myself here and I realize that what I did was perhaps not so trivial. There is a kind of recognition. I don't know if I really deserve it but, to be honest, it makes me happy. Especially when you were number 10. Because, when you play in this position in France, it's always complicated to have a lot of selections.
There, there are many foreigners who will come and who have eighty selections, a hundred selections, and even more. Obviously, I ask myself the question: am I playing in the same league as these guys? Look, at least for one evening, that will be the case! I will be in the middle of certain legends, who were among my references when I was young. I am thinking, for example, of Pierre Berbizier when it comes to French rugby. I admit that I can't wait to see “Galtoche” again (the nickname of Fabien Galthié, Editor’s note) because we haven't seen each other in a while. It’s also an opportunity to see each other again and talk about the past together.”
