Yanis Marshall harassed: he says

Yanis Marshall's life has not always been a smooth river. The one who notably embodied Deadpool in the clip Ashes by Céline Dion is certainly recognized today in the dance world and has a successful media career, but when he was younger, he went through a dark period.

The choreographer from (Alpes-Maritimes) experienced harassment in his childhood. “As a child, dancing was my one and only way of expressing myself, of shouting. I use this verb, 'scream', because in the schoolyard, I was insulted, hit, extorted… In dancing, I was shining, I was alive and at that time, I didn't feel so alive anywhere else.he confided in an interview for Marie Claire.

This period now behind him, Yanis Marshall has built a shell for himself: “That was before. Then my big mouth arrived. Now I have no problem telling someone, “Fuck you.” Dance helped me be who I am today.

Yanis Marshall opens up about her rape for the first time on television

The 34-year-old dancer and choreographer revealed a few months ago the rape and sexual abuse perpetrated on him by a big name in dance, who happened to be his mentor, when he was still a teenager: the choreographer Bruno Vandelli. Abused by this man at the age of fourteen, the former professor of Star Academy thus gradually emerges from the silence he had imposed on himself. “It took me ten years to understand what I had experienced”he confided to Faustine Bollaert.

In the midst of a legal battle – Bruno Vandelli reacted in particular in Morning by evoking a “relationship that was a love story without any violence“according to him -, Yanis Marshall added on 2 that his path to healing and acceptance was strewn with pitfalls. “I attempted suicide (…) I filed a complaint, everything is underway, we are in the middle… There you go, it will take years.”
