Free bicycle lights for secondary schools to increase road safety

Free bicycle lights for secondary schools to increase road safety.

Cyclists in traffic are vulnerable. Now that the days are shorter again, it is extra important that they are clearly visible. That is why Univé Haarlem offers secondary schools in the region the opportunity to request free bicycle lights for students whose bicycle lights do not work properly.

Make sure you stand out
It is the second year of Univé’s successful national campaign ‘Make sure you stand out’, with this year’s focus on secondary school students: “We believe it is important that young people participate safely in traffic. Good bicycle lighting is crucial for this,” says Annelies Goos, director of Univé Noord-Holland. ”This year we are handing out bicycle lights to secondary schools to give to students whose bicycle lights are not in order. The bicycle lights that we distribute are a temporary solution and do not replace permanent bicycle lights. If this is in order, you can be sure that you will always stand out.

School collaboration
Secondary schools can submit an application via unive-noordholland.nl/fietslampenactie, as long as there are still bicycle lights in stock. “In this way, we create more awareness around the theme of bicycle safety in collaboration with schools. Together we will look at how we can get this subject more ‘in the spotlight’ among young people,” said Goos.
