A violent attack took place at the Ozoir-la-Ferrière RER station (Seine-et-Marne) this Monday morning shortly after 8 a.m., under the eyes of many users. A group of around ten individuals, described as young and armed with bladed weapons, attacked other young people who were in an RER E train, according to police sources. The attackers reportedly waited for the train to arrive.
At least four people were injured, two of them seriously. One of the victims had a severed hand, while another was seriously injured in the head and had an open skull. The four injured, who are all believed to be minors or young adults, were treated by emergency services. There were no arrests at this stage. One of the sources indicates that the attackers were equipped with axes, another mentions a dagger.
Many people witnessed the incident and are in shock.
The police carry out on-site observations. They will use video surveillance images and question witnesses. An investigation has been opened. When requested, the Melun public prosecutor's office did not respond immediately.
