No winner in the clash of the sleeping giants between the Red Devils and the Blues this Sunday at Old Trafford.
Manchester United were held 1-1 on Sunday by Chelsea at Old Trafford for interim coach Ruud van Nistelrooy's first in the English championship, whose “Red Devils” occupy 13th place in the standings after ten days. The Mancuniens opened the scoring with a penalty converted by captain Bruno Fernandes (70th, 1-0), but their advantage lasted only four minutes, time for Moises Caicedo to equalize (74th, 1-1).
The point obtained by Chelsea allows the London club to climb to fourth place with 18 points, the same total as fifth Arsenal and sixth Aston Villa, both beaten at the weekend. Manchester United are in 13th place with 12 points after this third draw of the season (compared to three wins and four defeats).
Amorim soon in charge
The club from the north-west of England sacked Dutch coach Erik ten Hag on Monday and appointed his compatriot Ruud van Nistelrooy to take charge before the arrival of Portuguese Ruben Amorim. Ruud van Nistelrooy will still be on the Manchester United bench for the next league match against Leicester, before Amorim's debut against Ipswich then Everton.
