The figure alone is dizzying and the extent of the resources involved: since October 7, 2023, the United States has granted no less than 23 billion dollars (21.2 billion euros) to Israel in military support, according to a study by Brown University (Rhode Island). The researchers also calculated in constant dollars the amount of Yankee military aid since 1959: 251 billion dollars. A tenth in just one year: this report augurs the colossal firepower used by the Israeli army with full American support.
While the United States is preparing to elect a new president, Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli army are continuing with full force the wars waged in Gaza, in Lebanon, but also against Syrian or Iranian targets.
Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, accused the United States: “The ongoing events in Lebanon and Gaza have resulted in the martyrdom of 50,000 people last year, mainly women and children (…). The United States, which claims to defend human rights, supports and is complicit in these crimes. The plans and the weapons used come from there »he declared.
1,900 people killed in Lebanon
This weekend, the Israeli army carried out numerous military operations: on Saturday, November 2, it again bombed the southern suburbs of Beirut. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, one person died and fifteen others were injured.
Since September 23, the start of large-scale attacks against Lebanon, 1,900 people have been killed, according to this ministry. Another bombardment targeted “the Jousieh border post, where many Lebanese and Syrians cross from Lebanon to Syria”indicated the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi.
According to the diplomat, “Humanitarian structures were also affected. Fleeing has become difficult and dangerous as the war continues to spread.”. On Sunday, November 3, three other people were killed and nine injured, according to a still provisional report, by bombs dropped near Saida, the large city in southern Lebanon.
On Friday, numerous bombings hit the town of Baalbek and its surroundings, in eastern Lebanon, near the Syrian border. The human toll is very heavy, with more than 60 people killed. Half of the 82,000 inhabitants fled the city in two days. This Sunday, the Israeli army reiterated its movement order, causing a new mass exodus of refugees. The bombs exploded very close to the Roman remains classified as world heritage sites, raising fears – as in Gaza – of major cultural destruction.
Also in Lebanon, the Israeli army organized a commando operation by a marine unit in Batroun, north of Beirut, to kidnap a Hezbollah member qualified by the army “high-ranking agent”. Another executive of the Shiite Islamist movement was killed: according to the Israeli military, he was responsible for Hezbollah's missile and rocket systems.
All residents of northern Gaza face “imminent risk of death”
While the Israeli government expands the war across Lebanon and the region, Gaza remains under fire. According to the director of Unicef, Catherine Russell, “more than 50 children reportedly killed in Jabaliya, where strikes razed two residential buildings housing hundreds of people”.
Six Gazans were injured in the bombing of a vaccination center in the northern Gaza Strip. “The attacks on Jabaliya, the vaccination clinic and on a UNICEF staff member are another example of the serious consequences of indiscriminate strikes against civilians in the Gaza Strip”reacted the director of the child protection organization.
On Sunday alone, 31 Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks, bringing the death toll to 43,341 and 102,105 injured, according to the Hamas health ministry. The UN has expressed its deep concern: all the inhabitants of northern Gaza are running “the imminent risk of death” under bombs or for lack of water and food.
A little more than 70 km away, in Tel Aviv, a new demonstration by the families of the hostages was held on Saturday. One of the figures of the movement, Ifat Kalderon, whose cousin is one of the 97 hostages still alive, accused Benjamin Netanyahu: “Every time we try a hostage deal, he sabotages it. He made Sinouar (Yahya Sinouar, former leader of Hamas in Gaza – Editor's note) responsible and now that he is no longer there, he finds another reason each time. »
Engaged in a headlong rush which endangers the entire Middle East region, supported with billions of euros by the United States, which whatever happens will not change their policy in any way, Benjamin Netanyahu continues his work macabre.
