A woman was strangled to death by her ex-partner then thrown into the Seine in Louveciennes (Yvelines) during the night from Saturday to Sunday, AFP learned from a police source and the Versailles prosecutor's office.
According to the police source, a man called the police emergency line to report having been contacted by one of his friends who told him he had made a “stupidity” by killing his ex-partner. According to the applicant, the suspect hit the woman after an argument, then strangled her and threw her into the Seine.
The police went to the address indicated, a barge, and arrested a man in his fifties who was intoxicated.
Placed in police custody
He spontaneously indicated to the police that the victim, born in 1970 and described as his former partner, had not fallen into the water by accident, according to the prosecution. According to this same source, the accused, already known to the police and justice services, particularly for traffic offenses, was the tenant of part of the barge.
His vehicle as well as that of his ex-partner were parked in front of the pier. Two teams of police and fire divers found the woman's body on the bow of the boat.
The public prosecutor indicated that the man had been taken into police custody. An investigation into intentional homicide was opened and entrusted to the Yvelines territorial criminal directorate. The victim's body was transported to the Garches forensic institute (Hauts-de-Seine), where an autopsy must be carried out, added the prosecution.
