The starting grid for the 2024 Brazilian Grand Prix

How eventful the qualifying session for the Brazilian Grand Prix was! With no less than five red flags, the starting grid at Interlagos is necessarily reworked compared to what we are used to seeing, and with the multiple incidents in qualifying, nothing guarantees that there will be twenty single-seaters on the grid in just under three hours. The starting grid below is therefore provisional and indicative, and will be updated as regularly as possible.

Lando Norris will start from pole position, the Briton having splashed his opponents in Q3, he will share the front row with his compatriot George Russell. Yuki Tsunoda and Esteban Ocon form the unexpected duo of the second row. For the Racing Bulls team, this is a great opportunity to regain points from Haas in the fight for sixth place in the championship, since Liam Lawson has qualified in fifth position, just ahead of Charles Leclerc.

Seventh at the end of Q3, Alexander Albon may not be able to start this Grand Prix following the damage caused during his accident. Oscar Piastri, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll completed the qualifying top 10, with both Aston Martins also damaged during the qualifying session.

An excellent Valtteri Bottas placed himself at the gates of Q3, ahead of Sergio Pérez who will start twelfth. Behind him, Carlos Sainz will start from the pit lane, also the victim of an accident, while Pierre Gasly will start on the seventh row alongside Lewis Hamilton. Ollie Bearman, who replaces the ailing Kevin Magnussen, will start from the eighth row. Penalized by five places on the grid following a change of components in the power unit, Max Verstappen will have his work cut out from sixteenth place. The Dutchman is 44 points ahead of Norris, and this advantage could diminish soon…

Accidented in qualifying, Franco Colapinto will start 17th ahead of Nico Hülkenberg and Guanyu Zhou. Start of this Brazilian Grand Prix at 4:30 p.m., the race having been brought forward following the risk of heavy showers this afternoon in Brazil.
