INTERVIEW – “Once again, we killed for no reason,” declared this Sunday to Figaro Marie-Hélène Thoraval after the death of a 22-year-old rugby player, shot dead on Friday, and member of the same club as Thomas killed in Crépol. A disturbing coincidence for the councilor, “upset and bruised”.
The coincidence is disturbing. A year almost to the day after the murder of Thomas in Crépol on the night of November 18 to 19, 2023, another rugby player, a member of the same Romans-Péage club (RCRP), was in turn brutally murdered on Friday. Nicolas Dumas, 22, was waiting at the entrance to a nightclub in Saint-Péray in Ardèche on November 1, when a hooded man showed up with a gun. Hit by a bullet in the head, the young Romanais was urgently hospitalized. He died early Saturday afternoon.
