During his meeting in Casamance this Friday, Pastef leader Ousmane Sonko reacted to the controversy over the publication of the book by French historian Séverine Awenengo Dalberto on Casamance entitled: “The idea of autonomous Casamance: Possibilities and moral debts of the colonial situation in Senegal. »
Ousmane Sonko informs that he discussed it with the President of the Republic Bassirou Diomaye Faye and that no one will promote this book here in Senegal.
“This book will not be allowed… no one will promote it here. If this French woman wishes to write, let her do so about Corsica, which is demanding its independence from France…” declared the Head of Government.
Ousmane Sonko accuses France of wanting to interfere in the internal affairs of Senegal and that there is no question of talking about the autonomy of Casamance. “I want to say to France, I do not know what is behind this affair, because France had testified in the 90s by clarifying the question of the total belonging of Casamance to Senegal. »he recalled. Before continuing: “Now that there is a regime which is not anti-French, but simply pro-Senegalese, which says that we want our sovereignty, we will no longer accept being servants of anyone, we are releases a book. And since they cannot go back on their testimonies, they can no longer speak of independence, slipping on the notion of autonomy. We don’t want autonomy, that’s not the question. We are a unitary state from North to South, East to West, the same realities will apply for each portion of the national territory. »
And yet, the author of the book reacted to the controversy by affirming that it is a historical book. But the Prime Minister declared that Senegal does not need these archives. “This book will not be authorized in Senegal, nor marketed. If France wants to provide archives, it only has to provide us with archives of these summary executions in Senegal, of the wars it led here, of the tortures, of Thiaroye 44.” he said this Friday in Casamance.
