The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has updated its alert forecast for heavy rainfall and storms that affect a large part of the Spanish territory. In total, Five communities are at different levels of risk due to intense rainswith special concern in Andalusia, where a red level alert has been issued for the province of Huelva. This episode of rain is part of an isolated depression at high levels (DANA), which continues to generate adverse weather conditions in the country.

Andalusia, the Valencian Community, the Balearic Islands, Catalonia and Extremadura are at different levels of alertwith forecasts of intense rains that could cause significant accumulations of water in a short time. The province of Huelvain Andalusia, faces the highest risk, with a red alert due to rains that could reach up to 140 liters per square meter. The authorities have warned of possible flooding in areas such as the coast of Huelva, Andévalo and Condado, where persistent rain is expected throughout the day.
In the Valencian Community, another of the regions most affected by DANA, the orange alert is maintained. In recent days, the region has suffered serious damage and has regretted the loss of at least 155 lives (158 adding those of Cuenca and Albacete). On the southern coast of Valencia, up to 52 liters per square meter in one hour due to a static convective cell that affects the southern third of the community. In Castellonboth the northern interior and the coast remain on orange alert, with forecasts for accumulations of up to 100 liters in 12 hours.
Andalusia in red level due to extreme risk of rain
In Catalonia, the southern coastline and pre-coastline of Tarragona remain on orange alert, with expected rainfall of up to 40 liters per square meter in one hour and a total of 100 liters in 12 hours. In the Balearic Islands, the AEMET has activated the same level of alert in critical areas such as the Sierra de Tramuntana, the north, northeast and interior of Mallorca and also in Menorcawhere up to 120 liters could accumulate in a few hours.
Along with these important risk warnings, The yellow alert extends to several areas of Andalusia, Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, the Valencian Community and Extremadura.where rains can also reach up to 60 liters per square meter in 12 hours. The AEMET has urged the population to take precautions, especially in the most affected areas, and to check the state of the roads before undertaking any trip.
