Millions of eggs distributed throughout France by various major brands have been recalled since Friday. Health authorities cite salmonella contamination for most batches and encourage consumers to throw away the products. But which brands are affected and how to recognize them?
Consumers should be careful. This Friday, health authorities published several recall sheets concerning eggs of different brands. Contamination with salmonella, the bacteria responsible for salmonellosis, is mentioned.
This alert should not be taken lightly, because the number of eggs affected and the brands affected concern different distributors throughout France. Charitable associations are also affected. We take stock.
The brands concerned

Two references sold in Lidl stores are recalled: medium and large egg cartons, in six and twelve units. The batch numbers concerned can be found by following this link.
· Carrefour

Note that this product is also mentioned in another recall sheet which this time mentions wider marketing in other points of sale.

Other references from the Ovalis brand
If four brands have published alerts for egg references sold in their own stores, six other references are produced by the Ovalis company, under different brands and sold in several points of sale at the same time.
According to the recall sheet common to these references, the products were distributed between September 29 and October 10, 2024. Without further details on the Rappel Conso site, here are the distributors concerned: Carrefour, Coopérative U, Auchan, Intermarché, Leclerc , Maximo and Restos du coeur.
· Sweet France
Both six and twelve unit egg boxes are affected.
· All fresh
Boxes of six and twelve free-range eggs from the “All Fresh” brand are also recalled. The brand's two products appear in the middle of the first line on the visual (box of 6) and on the far left on the second line (box of 12).
· Poitou eggs
Finally, it is only the boxes of six of the “Poitou oeufs” brand which are also recalled.
The presence of salmonella noted
The bacteria found in several batches prompted health authorities to massively recall these products. If eaten, these eggs can cause food poisoning, which can lead to cases of acute gastroenteritis.
The consequences can be serious in certain people with particular sensitivity (suffering from malnutrition, illnesses, or even infants, young children and pregnant women, etc.).
If they have these products at home, consumers are asked to no longer consume them to avoid a risk of poisoning. The various recall sheets mention the instructions to follow to obtain a refund from each store concerned.
