Look of the Day 10/25: This Hawk to fly high tonight

We weren’t able to cash our second straight Look of the Day on Thursday night, but we’re looking to bring some momentum into the football weekend. Let’s finish the week strong with our favorite NBA player prop for Friday’s slate.

Look of the Day: Jalen Johnson over 32.5 points + rebounds + assists (-108 FanDuel)

The Atlanta Hawks are taking on the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night, and we’re looking for Johnson to fill up the stat sheet in this matchup.

Johnson signed a $150 million contract extension right before the season began, so the Hawks clearly expect him to make a big jump in 2024-25. We saw a glimpse of that in his busy season opener against the Brooklyn Nets. Johnson scored 11 points on 4-9 shooting, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out four assists, but those stats don’t reflect how often he was around the ball.

Johnson passed the ball 82 times against the Nets, which marked the second-highest total of the season behind Nikola Jokic’s 84 on Thursday night. He recorded nine potential assists and didn’t even connect on 50 percent of them. Johnson also finished the game with a whopping 17 rebound chances, while center Clint Capela had only nine. The Hornets are one of the worst rebounding teams in the NBA with Nick Richards at center, so Johnson should be able to feast on the glass.

We also expect the Duke product to be more aggressive on the offensive end. He averaged 16.0 points and 12.5 field-goal attempts per game last season, but he attempted just nine shots in Game 1. Look for that number to be closer to 15 in an easy matchup.
