The Paris prosecutor's office opened an investigation last July after the complaint filed by the artistic director of the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games.
“A first wave” of “7 arrests” was carried out this week throughout France in the investigation into cyberharassment suffered in particular by Thomas Jolly, artistic director of the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games, we learned Thursday from a source close to the matter.
“This is a first wave of arrests, there will be others, the investigators will follow through,” the same source warned, confirming information from France Info. Thomas Jolly had explained to the police “that he was the target of threats and insults on social networks criticizing his sexual orientation and his wrongly assumed Israeli origins”, specifies the Paris prosecutor's office.
Five people summoned to court in March
Among the seven people arrested, at least five will be summoned on March 5, 2025 before the 17th chamber of the Paris criminal court, specify our colleagues from franceinfo. They are being prosecuted for death threats, aggravated insults based on sexual and religious orientation and cyberharassment.
