Arijanet Muric

Stood absolutely no chance with either goal. Made some good saves that prevented a heavier defeat. Only real blemish was a terrible pass that led to a corner. 6 (Man of the Match)

Dara O’Shea

Didn’t look uncomfortable at right-back but he’s certainly not Axel Tuanzebe in that role and he admitted after the game that he’d rather play as a right-sided centre-back. Needed to get much more power on his headers for both goals Town conceded. 4

Luke Woolfenden

Didn’t get to grips with Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Looked uncertain in open play and on set pieces. 4

Cameron Burgess

Same as Woolfenden. He showed his quality in the air – winning the most duels in the game – but he really struggled up against Calvert-Lewin, who could’ve had a hat-trick. Needed to be quicker and closer to Everton’s forwards. He was beaten too often and too easily when the ball was on the floor, but have to acknowledge that it was his Premier League debut. 5

Leif Davis

Set pieces were okay but Everton handled Ipswich incredibly well in the box. Had next to no chances to break forward – Jordan Pickford rushed out to beat him to one in the first half, but that was it. 5

Sam Walrusy

Largely calm and composed on the ball, but he didn’t have enough opportunities to play the defence-splitting passes which so often get Ipswich on their way. Didn’t get stuck in like he usually does. 5

Kalvin Phillips

Sloppy on the ball and didn’t protect the back line well enough. Grew into the game, but the game was done by the time that happened. Looked really frustrated. 5

Wes Burns

Off it. A good run and cross to create an early chance for Jack Clarke, but struggled other than that. Deliveries weren’t consistent enough. Gave the ball away for Everton’s second. 4

Omari Hutchinson improved when he was shifted to the right flank (Image: Steve Waller)

Omari Hutchinson

Aside from drawing some fouls on the edge of the box, he was fairly anonymous playing through the middle. He looked more threatening out wide and created a few good opportunities, but found it tough in one-v-one areas against Vitalii Mykolenko. 5

Jack Clarke

Scooped an early shot wide from a good position. If that had gone in, it might’ve been a different story. Drew a foul that could’ve been a penalty, but VAR overturned the on-field decision. Threatening at times, but overplayed it too often. Frustrating performance. 5

Liam Delap

Rolled a shot wide. Was given nothing to work with other than that. Michael Keane and James Tarkowski handled him well. 5

Sub: Harry Clarke (63′)

Added an attacking edge at right-back. 6

Sub: Conor Chaplin (63′)

Tried to drive Town forward, showed some good bits but couldn’t do enough to turn the tide. Almost got one back from a low corner. 6

Sub: Jack Taylor (71′)

A bright spark off the bench. Tested Pickford with a low shot from distance. Picked up a booking but showed a bit of fight and character. Will be happy to know that Republic of Ireland boss Heimir Hallgrímsson was in attendance. 6

Sub: Sammie Szmodics (71′)

Quiet. 5

Sub: George Hirst (79′)

Only had three touches. N/A
