The is still on red alert for floods and orange for rain-flooding this Thursday October 17 and Friday October 18.

More than 400 interventions

The departmental operational committee was activated at the prefecture at 9:30 a.m.

The emergency services are fully mobilized, under the coordination of the prefect and have carried out more than 400 interventions. 150 firefighters are deployed.

Loire Prefecture

The Pilat massif concentrated the main difficulties this morning. You are asked to avoid all non-essential travel.

Schools in the Pilat massif closed at 5 p.m. to allow people to return home before the end of the lull scheduled for 6 p.m.

Five establishments in Saint-Etienne

In Saint-Etienne, the following establishments are concerned:

  • Aristide Briand College
  • Terrenoire Bourg Primary
  • Terrenoire Perrotière Primary
  • Terrenoire Janon Primary
  • Sainte-Blandine School

“Local elected officials can still decide to close their establishments, even if they are not on this list,” specifies the Loire prefecture.

Many roads closed

Due to bad weather, several roads are currently impassable. Here is the list of the axes concerned:

RD 503 between Lupé and Malleval (PR0 to PR3): road blocked.
RD7 to Chavanay (PR32 to PR33): subsidence of the road and significant damage at the Chaurieu bridge.
RD34 to Pélussin (PR15): landslide and collapsed road.
RD1086 in Saint-Pierre-de-Boeuf: flooding on half of the roadway, alternation in place.
RD34 in Colombier (PR0+500): landslide.
RD63 to Pélussin (PR20+700): slope sliding.
RD62 in Pélussin: torrent crossing the road.
RD19 between Pélussin and Maclas (PR12 to PR20): flooding and landslide at PR12+700.
RD22 between La Versanne and Saint-Sauveur-en-Rue: road flooded.
D1082: closed between Saint-Étienne (Velocio roundabout) and Bourg-Argental.
D1086: bridge washed away, road closed.
A47: closed between Saint-Chamond and Givors.
M488: closed in the Givors-Saint-Étienne direction.
