Tadej Pogacar concluded an exceptional 2024 season with a victory in the Tour of Lombardy. The Slovenian now wants to think about vacations.
Winner of his fourth consecutive Tour of Lombardy, equaling Fausto Coppi’s record, after a new solo rider this Saturday in Como, Tadej Pogacar did not hide his satisfaction at the end of the race.
“Every victory is special, the team worked so hard, we had a lot of pressure. We followed the planned plan, I am very happy”savored the Slovenian, admitting to having “started thinking about vacation” in the last kilometers. “We had planned a tactic like that. The Tour of Lombardy is so difficult, in the last 40 kilometers it was a man to man duel and I knew that with a good advantage at the top (from Colma di Sormano 42 kilometers from the finish)I could arrive alone. Remco Evenepoel came back a little on the descent (at 1′) but he was at full speed, I think. I then tried to speed up to dig back a few seconds and win the mental battle. And I also told myself that it was the end of the season to motivate me (smile). (is he making history with this fourth success in a row?) We’ll look at that at the end of my career.”
