The issues at Pepinster

The municipal election of October 2024 in Pepinster promises to be particularly tense, due to the political splits which have marked the current majority. The Pepin group, led by mayor Philippe Godin, in the majority with 16 seats out of 21, recently saw three of its members leave its ranks: aldermen Nathalie Levêque and Doris Quadflieg, as well as Dominique Monville, president of the Autonomous Municipal Authority. These dissidents have created a new political list, ImpactS CitoyenS, and could upset the political balance. The question arises: will this new formation attract enough voters to prevent Pepin from retaining the absolute majority he has held for 18 years?

If this is the case, another uncertainty looms: ImpactS CitoyenS, having broken with Pepin, seems reluctant to ally itself again with this group. The same goes for Pepin. This dynamic could therefore, in this scenario, force Pepin to look for other partners (Vivre Pepinster) to govern or push him towards the opposition, thus redefining the political scene of the municipality.

Whatever happens, the new majority will have to start or continue several projects: among them, the post-flood reconstruction, the necessary revitalization of the city center, the future multidisciplinary sports center in Wegnez or the city project administrative in the former Piqueray school.
