Portugal scored another victory in Poland (1-3), while Spain barely dominated Denmark (1-0). Serbia, for its part, won its first victory in this new edition against Switzerland (2-0), while Romania did not tremble against Cyprus (0-3). A look back at this final evening of the 3rd day of the Nations League.

Led by Cristiano Ronaldo still hungry for records, Portugal traveled to Warsaw to face Poland this Saturday evening. To try to achieve a second victory in this Nations League, Michal Probierz chose to line up a 3-5-2 with Karol Swiderski, striker for Charlotte FC (MLS), alongside Robert Lewandowski. For his part, Roberto Martinez remained in his 4-3-3, with Bruno Fernandes, Ruben Neves and Bernardo Silva, in the middle, while Cristiano Ronaldo played at the forefront of the attack alongside Rafaël Leão and Pedro Neto .

Dominant, the Portuguese took the lead thanks to Bernardo Silva (26th), after a sublime header from Bruno Fernandes. Ten minutes later, Rafael Leao overtook the Polish defense before landing a shot that hit Lukasz Skorupski’s post. Cristiano Ronaldo, who had followed well, finished upwind to allow the Selection to make the break (37th), before half-time.

Returning from the locker room, Poland reduced the score with a goal from Piotr Zieliński (78th), before Jan Bednarek’s own goal (88th) sealed the victory for the visitors. With this third success in as many matches, Portugal consolidates its place as leader of this group 1 and is only one victory away from validating its place for the quarter-finals, next March. Poland remains third.

Spain can thank Martin Zubimendi

Undefeated in its last 12 matches, Spain hosted Denmark at the Enrique Roca stadium in Murcia. For this shock of group 4, Luis de la Fuente decided to line up Martin Zubimendi to compensate for the absence of Rodri, alongside Fabian Ruiz and to trust the quartet composed of Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Mikel Oyarzabal and Álvaro Morata, captain , on attack.

Opposite, Kasper Dolberg was preferred to Rasmus Højlund at the forefront of the Danish attack, surrounded by Albert Grønbæk and Christian Eriksen. Despite the clear Spanish domination in the first half, we had to wait until the second half to see the Roja open the scoring, thanks to Martin Zubimendi (79th) and claim another victory.

In the other matches of this evening, Serbia won against Switzerland (2-0), thanks to an own goal from Nico Elvedi (45th + 1) and an achievement from Aleksandar Mitrović (61st). With this success, the Serbs return to one point behind Denmark in group 4 of path A.

In path C, Romania easily beat Cyprus (0-3), with goals from Dennis Man (16th), Razvan Marin (25 sp) and Radu Dragusin (36th). A third victory in three matches for the Romanians, leaders of group 2. Finally, Belarus and Northern Ireland parted with a score of parity (0-0), in group 3 of path D.
