The doubt did not last long for Florian Gaillard. Less than a week after the brutal announcement of the withdrawal of the amateur pelotons from his Cre’Actuel-Marie Morin-U22 team, the former leader of the U19 Team Fenioux has already found his future refuge. It will be Dinan Sport Cycling, one of the last two Breton teams surviving in the amateur elite. “As I am studying in Rennes, the location of my next team was an important criterion”recalls Florian Gaillard who kills two birds with one stone to continue his progress in cycling.
“I’m still relieved”
And the young 19-year-old rider from Indre doesn’t hide the fact that Dinan Sport Cycling was a possible place to fall back. “Even before this whole story with Cre’Actuel, members of Dinan had approached me and presented their project. I loved it but I had no reason to leave Cre’Actuel, that was clear in my head. Obviously, I contacted them again this week and they still agreed to sign me”explains Florian Gaillard.
It is therefore freed from a weight that the former nugget of the US Argenton will be able to put the bike aside at the end of the calendar year which traditionally coincides with the end of road races. “Yes, I feel better, that’s for sure, because I had a few days of stress, anyway. I don’t yet have the schedule for resuming with Dinan but I will slowly resume at the end of December-beginning of January before starting the real preparation for the 2025 season.he emphasizes.
In a project focused on young people
Florian Gaillard will no longer have the same jersey, but the same fixed idea, that of confirming his obvious progress glimpsed during the last third of the present exercise which saw him squat several top 15 before being very close to winning the Trophée des champions in Valdivienne (Vienna). According to him, he arrives in an ideal environment: “Dinan focuses its new project on young people like me and offers an attractive racing calendar with several commitments to international events, in particular. It’s perfect and I can’t wait to be there to prove my worth”he announces.
See you in March 2025 for Florian Gaillard’s first official pedal strokes under the Dinan tunic.
