Yesterday, against Harambee Stars, the Cameroon team made a strong impression by winning 4-1. It was a very good match and a great performance that the Indomitable Lions had not shown since the crisis between Minsep and Fecafoot had polluted the atmosphere in the den. During the lull, the Lions showed an attractive face this Friday in Mfandena. Everyone contributed in their own way to put the team back in first place in Group J of these African Cup qualifiers. Each person’s grades determine their commitment and effectiveness on the field.
Below are the notes given by journalist Benjamin Zebaze
Drunk : 6/10
In a match where adversity was rather low, the Manchester United goalkeeper knew how to make his team play through long and short plays. His save in the 74th minute from a vicious free kick was very safe.
But his passivity on the Kenyan goal is suspect because when we were young, our coaches explained that within 5m50, the ball was for the goalkeeper.
2- Jackson Tchatchoua: 5.5/10
Less full match than during the last meeting but he was able to cover his right side especially on the defensive level.
3- Nouhou: 5,5/10
Good defensively but unhappy going forward where sometimes he unnecessarily complicated his game.
4- Wooh (not rated) then Castelleto: 5.5/10
Wooh was unfortunate with this injury which made people fear the worst.
Replaced by Castelleto, I had the impression that the latter was not very comfortable on the left side of the defense.
But he applied himself while avoiding making mistakes: this is the future of the Lions’ central defense.
5- Ngadeu: 5.5
Every time he touches the ball, I don’t feel comfortable… He’s done a lot for the Lions in the past, but I don’t think that in the face of greater adversity, he would “guard” effectively the house.
His responsibility is clearly committed for the goal conceded because, with such size, not even jumping to try to intercept such an aerial ball is a… “crime” against football.
6- Hongla: 7/10
Quite difficult start to the match with some loss of balls. He then pulled himself together by covering the ground well and above all, by scoring a goal following a heavy strike at the entrance to the rectangle: finally, what an interception followed by a rapid counter-attack and a gem of a pass for Bassogog who scored the fourth goal!
7- Fraud: 6,5/10
Sometimes sparkling; sometimes nonchalant; sometimes annoying: such is the Zambo Anguissa we saw this afternoon.
But with his midfield friends, he ultimately accomplished a great job.
8- Baleba: 6/10
Obviously expected by the public who gave him a standing ovation from his first touch of the ball, this is not the Baleba we are used to seeing as he lost balls and rarely accelerated the game.
In the first half, his long balls nevertheless quickly brought danger into the opposing camp.
9- Aboubakar: 5/10
Aside from the penalty, what can you remember about your match? Not much other than this way of believing oneself to be 10 years young by wanting to multiply individual actions.
Otherwise, what technical mastery in front of the goal!
10- Nbeumo: 6,5/10
Without embellishment, he played his game causing a penalty and scoring a goal which prevented the Lions from doubting after the Kenyan equalizer and just before half-time.
11- Bassogog
Man of the match: Bassogog, the return of
Phoenix : 8,5/10
It was his day: Bassogog proved that to well-born souls, if baldness does not wait for the number of years, it is sometimes with old pots that we prepare the best meals. I have never given such a rating to an Indomitable lion but what Bassogog achieved this afternoon on his left side is of a very high level.
Involved in all the dangerous actions of the Lions, he concluded by scoring a goal full of energy and… finesse. His game reminded us that football is above all a spectacle: offered by artists like Bassogog this afternoon, it is a treat.
COACH’S RATING: 6/10
We feel that Marc Brys is trying to put together a typical team because since his arrival, there have been few surprises in his team composition. This seems correct to me regarding the search for automation.
That said, there is still too much garbage that he will have to correct if he wants his team to reach a certain level.
REFEREE’S SCORE: 6/10
Not much to say about the refereeing.
