The path to Real Madrid is becoming clearer and clearer for Liverpool’s English right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Alexander-Arnold rumor has already been in the news for some time but it is growing all the more following Dani Carvajal’s serious knee injury. Furthermore, Lucas Vázquez, who is certainly a “good soldier”, is not destined to succeed the reign of the great Carvajal who should be absent for almost a year. And even if he is a courageous and solid player, nothing tells us that he will regain his level, especially at such an age (Carvajal will be 33 on January 11) with this type of injury.

And that’s where the name Alexander-Arnold comes into play. Indeed, the young right back (26 years old) has everything (or almost) the perfect successor to Dani Carvajal. He is a player who is already very experienced for his age (8 seasons in the Premier League and won a Champions League) and who is in the process of being free from any contract (his contract ends next summer)…

Real Madrid is aware of the player’s contractual situation and could do the same thing as with Alaba or Rüdiger, who arrived for free. It remains to be seen whether Carvajal’s injury will push Real Madrid to act in January rather than having him for free next summer. There is a greater chance that the second option will be preferred.

Its strong connection with Bellingham

Trent and Jude are true friends who discovered each other notably during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Last summer, they even went on vacation together to Los Angeles. It is obvious that the presence of Bellingham and his links with Alexander-Arnold can tip the scales in favor of Real when we know that English players are rarely exported even if everything cannot be based on that, obviously.

Furthermore, the Alexander Arnold “case” has caused a lot of ink to flow among our English neighbors. Observers are struggling to understand the way Liverpool treat the defender tracked by many European clubs apart from Real Madrid. Jason Cundy, former Chelsea and Tottenham player, said of him: “Trent perplexes me. He’s 25 or 26, letting him go is ridiculous to me. His contract is about to expire, how can we we have this conversation about his case, why is this happening like this?

“The contract, as far as we know, has not been signed. I am stunned, it is already October. If you value this player enough in the club, he should not be in the last two years of his contract. As soon as the 18 months are up, the question marks begin and the player’s power becomes greater and greater. He is 26 years old, he obviously wants to stay. Liverpool, he’s been there since he was six,” he added.

Jason Cundy even goes so far as to mention the possibility of signing a pre-contract with Real Madrid for Trent: “He’s been at the club for 20 years, it’s a very important element. We need to have a conversation about what could happen. spend with him in January… he can sign a pre-contract with Real Madrid on January 1st. It’s in three months, think about it,” he concluded.
