Basel pushes YB into crisis, no winner between Zurich and Lugano

Difficult week for Young Boys. Beaten 5-0 in Barcelona on Tuesday, the Bernese suffered the law of “the other FCB” in the Super League, with a 1-0 victory for Basel in Saint-Jacques. During the last meeting of the day, Zurich and Lugano were unable to decide between themselves (1-1).

FC Basel has achieved a very important success which allows it to now appear above the bar. The decisive success came from the head of Adrian Barisic, receiving a free kick kicked by Xherdan Shaqiri (52nd), author of an interesting performance until his replacement in the 72nd.

The turning point of the match occurred shortly before the break. The referee awarded a penalty to YB, but the VAR overturned it for a Lauper simulation. A minute later, the Bernese midfielder was sent off for a foul. At ten, the Bernese were unable to resist and thus remain last in the standings with one point from Winterthur. The situation of coach Patrick Rahmen is becoming more and more precarious…

Shock at the top without a winner

During the clash at the top, Zurich and Lugano were unable to decide between themselves (1-1). The Ticinese may have regrets, because they dominated a lot and were by far the most active and dangerous team. But Yannick Brecher, very prominent, saved his team on numerous occasions. The FCZ goalkeeper also needed help from the crossbar on a shot from Renato Steffen (5th).

Lugano finally took the lead thanks to Ignacio Aliseda (26th), well served by Steffen. Forgotten by the Bianconeri defense, Juan Perea equalized with a header (35th) on Zurich’s first attempt on target, which was the only one until the 88th minute. With one point, the home team was really well paid.
